Genre: psychological thriller. ⭐️Stars from Goodreads: 3.45.⭐️Stars from me: 4.5

I first saw You Were Made For This on Ova’s blog. She praised the book and I trust her opinion. I wouldn’t have picked up the book otherwise due to its description. Actually, I think the description doesn’t do the book justice and is quite misleading. It makes the book sound like another family/relationship drama while in reality it’s nothing of that sort. It’s a deep, chilling psychological thriller.

You Were Made For This is about a family that looks perfect (too perfect) living its life in Swedish wilderness, and about a friend visiting it.

I found the book unsettling from the very beginning. There is a premonition of something harsh that will dismantle this illusion of a pristine family life. And that’s exactly what happens.

The characters are really compelling, but I don’t mean they are nice or healthy. It’s interesting to discover what disfigured them so much and what they are capable of.

I wish there was more told about Frank, one of the characters. I feel like she harbours even more skeletons in her closet.

I loved the perfect suspense of the story and that the worst villain wasn’t identified till the very end of the book.

I found the ending quite puzzling. It doesn’t contradict the storyline or the characters’ nature but it doesn’t match the emotions you develop for the characters by the end of the book.

The writing is pleasant and natural, free of any tricks. The story is told from the perspectives of three people and I could hear their voices and recognise their personalities whenever they were speaking.
